With You

Her mouth tasted like metal. She brushed her teeth across her tongue trying to scrape off the taste, but it still remains. Then it was like watching a vintage story through her a cinematograph. Everything was blurred with the corners and side of her vision dull and dark. Each step she took, she loses a little more of her vision. She knew that she was walking but not where. It was like a video of low quality with dying battery playing through her eyes, unclear and slowly just pitched black. She was at a state of panic. She knew her eyes were open but she couldn’t see a thing. It was as though she was stuck in a room with just four walls and nothing else. Then, her hearing started to fade. She could feel people around telling her something, but it was too hard for her to concentrate on the sounds with the hammer pounding on her head. The sound of her heartbeat echoing in her head. She knows someone was talking but she don’t know who was saying what. It was like an annoying high frequency sound playing in her ears. Her hands reached out to cover her ears but to no avail. The noise just kept on playing and soon she couldn’t hear anything anymore. She was now blind and deaf to her surroundings.
She lost her sense of sight and hearing. Her sense of taste was just adding on to her discomfort. Despite all the misfortune that she was facing, she still had the sense of smell and touch.
She could smell his faded cologne just beside her. Her body stuck on to his. His arms were around her, one around her waist giving her support while the other holding on to her hand lifting her up. His grip was firm. Even though, she couldn’t see or hear the words, she felt that she was going to be okay. She was in safe hands. There’s was nothing much to be afraid of, even if she blacked out now. Because she was with people she could trust.

It was the normal routine for her. She would wake up naturally then head down for lunch and go for her badminton sessions. That day she woke up at 2 in the afternoon and dropped him a text, greeting him. He was awake too. They decided to meet at the coffee shop at 2.30 then she would head off for her own things. It was a quick lunch, she ended not eating much. She bid her farewells and head towards the direction of the bus stop. She was looking for her earpiece when she heard her name. It was him; he wanted to send her to wherever it is. She looked at him with question marks floating at the back of her head. Maybe he had woke up at the wrong side of the bed? He actually stopped her in her tracks to offer her a ride when could could just save the trouble and head home to rest. No matter what, she took the ride, because she could reach earlier.  The ride wasn’t a long one, it was just a 7 minutes’ drive. The topics of their conversation vary and jumped from one to another. Soon after, they reached. She thanked him for the ride, even knowing she would drop a text later and receive a reply from him telling her to enjoy herself. Just before she left, he grabbed her am and pulled her towards him. It was the most awkward and shocking car hug she had ever received. It was the first time they ever did that. It was funny yet interesting to her. By the time she left the car, she could feel the smile forming on her lips. Then she decided that what he did was really cute and sweet.
